Snowmass is the fantasy mountain where intermediates suddenly ski like French
Olympian Jean-Claude Killy and beginners fall in love with the sport. Meanwhile,
experts feel they’ve hit the Mother Lode. The cruising is great. The broad,
perfectly groomed runs from top to bottom, especially on the famous mile-wide
Big Burn is just like dragging main. High-speed quads at the Two Creeks area
whisk you to the heights of Elk Camp. Experts head for hidden treasure and
little known black diamonds like Hanging Valley, The Cirque and KT Gully. At the
other end of the thrill spectrum, Fanny Hill is one of the gentlest beginners’
runs anywhere. The Snowmass Ski School is staffed to offer every level of lesson
in an amazing variety of languages and includes a crackerjack crew of snowboard
instructors. There are seven high-speed quads and excellent restaurants
sprinkled everywhere you want to take a break, including elegant table service
at Gwynn’s High Alpine. Snowmass welcomes snowboarders and boasts a fantastic
terrain garden and snowboard pipeline designed by world champion Jimmy Scott.
There are 80 kilometers of wide-open, groomed cross-country trails for the
Nordic ski buff connecting Snowmass, Aspen and other parts of the spectacular
Roaring Fork Valley. Although only a few miles from Aspen, Snowmass has its own
distinct village offering fine restaurants, charming boutiques and exceptional
accommodations. More than 90 percent of the resort’s hotels and condominiums
are located slope-side ..... another reason why Snowmass has become one of the
most popular resorts in the Rockies for family vacations.
